A signed Christopher Dresser Linthorpe pottery plate circa 1880. This superb and rare Linthorpe high relief 8" English pottery plate features a naturalistic branch with leaves with a rustic white/yellow glaze on the front and no glazing on the back. It is stamped LINTHORPE Ch. Dresser HT on the back; Dresser was the designer for this factory c1879-89 and Henry Tooth was the manager prior to 1883, making the date of manufacture 1879-83. This item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs, with only the slightest touches of wear to the glaze on the highest points (barely noticeable). Please note that there is some minor sticker residue on the back which we haven't removed. A TJ&J Mayer superb glazed moulded stoneware jug from the 18303s - 1850s. This wonderfully detailed and high quality glazed English high relief stoneware pitcher is 9-1/2" in height. It has a chocolate brown stippled ground on which is laid very thick allegorical scenes with palm trees in greyish coloured clay. It is known as the Paul and Virginia design. The hand-carved detail is stunning and even the handle is decorated with fronds and a stalk. The lip has two holes for the fitting of a pewter lid which was an option with these jugs - this example was never fitted. It has the stamped T.J.&J. MAYERS PATENT mark with DALE HALL POTTERY LONGPORT under the Royal Arms mark which was in use from c1843-55. It also has a No 102 18 pattern mark and the registry number for 1850. This item is in superb original condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than some faint crazing on the glazed interior only. A great example of this Victorian decorative style. A pair of early Staffordshire figurines of eagles on vermicular or marble painted bases from 1820-1850. These well modelled heavily gilded 19thC English earthenware eagles are 7-3/4" tall. Both have tilted heads and back-stretched wings. They have purple, yellow and orange marble-like painting on the simple rectangular shape bases. The mustard yellow rocky perches have a blue flower. They not signed with a manufacturer's stamp, unfortunately fairly common with Staffordshire figures. They are in very good, but not undamaged condition. One is undamaged with only a firing crack, which is original to the manufacture of the figurines (see image), and the other has had the lower portion of one wing and the head re-glued. Some wear to the gilding. The breaks and repair are quite clean and it could be restored professionally. The only pair of Staffordshire eagles I have owned in over 40 years selling antiques. The firing crack is very small with only small expected disturbances (including slight browning to the beak of one eagle) which don't detract from the appeal of these unusual figurines. An early 19thC blue saltglaze pitcher. This high relief early to mid-19th century 6-1/8" tall salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug has an allegorical scene with grapes and vines; it is unsigned and it has a nice medium blue colour. This item is in very good condition with no cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a firing crack around the bottom of the handle (original to the firing), a chip on the upper rim (with glaze infill, possibly later) and a barely visible shallow underglaze star crack on the bottom which doesn't interrupt the glaze or go through to the interior. A Sevres style hand painted portrait plate from the 19thC signed Amblet. This late 19thC cabinet or display plate is 9-5/8" across and it features fine gilding, a scalloped edge with high relief gilt vines with a pink ground and a beautiful signed free hand painted central portrait of a pretty young woman picking flowers. The plate has the genuine three part Sevres marks, which include the Louis Philippe 1844 mark (this mark actually dates to the late 19th century), the Chateau de Tuileries wreath and the S. 37 in lozenge year date. The portrait is signed F. Amblet, and this fine example of vintage French porcelain is in excellent original condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, losses, damage or repairs other than a very slight touch of wear to the gold on the ribs where they enter the painted scene. A Royal Crown Derby 6452 hand painted covered entree dish 1907. This fine quality English bone china covered oval entree dish is dated 1907and it was made by Royal Crown Derby in the 6452 pattern. This 11-1/4" x 7-3/4" serving dish has a cobalt band with matte gold painting including a grape vine motif and white enamel jewelling. It is marked on both pieces with the orange ROYAL CROWN DERBY ENGLAND 6452 mark, the M year letter (for 1907) and an underglaze stamped DERBY 6-07. This item is in very good original condition with no cracks, crazing, dents, damage or repairs other than a 3/16" chip to the base's edge (see picture). A superb and vintage Art Nouveau 12-3/4" across Austro-Hungarian ceramic wall plaque depicting a lovely woman with an earring and flowers in her hair c1905. This terracotta plaque is probably by Ernst Wahliss, and it has an impressed flying dove stamp with a pattern number 1518. It also has a pencil notation 5620/23, which was typical. Some Wahliss items had a foil tag which often became lost. It has a brown border, a black ground and an ivory coloured face with brownish hair. This item is in excellent condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs other than a few slight flakes to the brown border and a fine scratch along her chin. A pair of Julius Dressler Austria majolica vases circa 1900. This fine and vintage pair of late Victorian 8-1/2" tall majolica mantle vases features pink, blue, black, green and yellow colouration along with gold trim. They are stamped with the pattern number 432 along with various painted and underglaze decorator marks, including the pottery mark for Julius Dressler of Austria (Bohemia), in business from 1888-1920. A fine hand painted and gold trimmed Dresden factory painted porcelain lidded jam or marmalade pot by Donath & Co. c1900. This 5-1/2" tall serving piece features different floral scenes on each panel between the footed columns and on the lid; it is marked with DRESDEN with the crown mark for Donath & Co. (1893-1916), and it has a gold rose painted over the Thomas maker's name. It also has the retailer's stamp for Ryrie Bros. Ltd. of Toronto (who were bought out by Birks in the 1920s). A hand painted Limoges large roses centerpiece or fruit bowl dated 1903. This wonderfully handpainted 10-3/8" across bowl stands 4" high and 8-1/2" deep, it has a handle on one side, and the painting is of very high quality for a painted blank. Typical in this era, china painting was very popular and some very talented pieces were produced by home amateurs. This example has lovely red roses and green foliage, a pink interior ground with a pair of roses, and gold trim (which required a refiring to set after the firing on of the painting). It is stamped with HAVILAND FRANCE (the maker of the blank) and 2. (the item or mold number). It is signed ANNA KAMMAN. 1902 and this Edwardian bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, wear, losses, damage or repairs. A Lanternier Limoges hand painted floral vase from around 1900. This subtle and beautiful Limoges French porcelain hand painted vase c1890-1900 vase stands 9-1/4" high and it has a finely painted floral arrangement in subtle pastel shades with gold highlights - the leafy sprigs with purple flowers have subtle green lines and the complex yellow and richly gilded large flowers and leaves have great detail and piped and jewelled thick gold outlines. There are also sprays of gold on the cloudlike satin finish of this decorative piece. It was made by the Lanternier & Co firm, and it is a factory painted piece. A Royal Bayreuth village scene with birds creamer and sugar. This 3-5/8" tall porcelain lidded sugar bowl and matching 2-7/8" high creamer were made by Royal Bayreuth, Bavaria (Germany) c1910-20. The creamer depicts a lady tending geese in front of a village scene with two geese on the back; the sugar bowl shows a gentleman tending turkeys with a village scene with turkey hens on the back. each piece is tgrimmed in gold and they have the Bayreuth mark plus a 22 pattern mark.
