A detailed intaglio Laws Scottish family crest sterling silver seal ring from 1900-1930. This vintage size 7 ring features the family crest from the Laws family with a cockerel atop the shield and the quote from Horace (30 BCE) "COMPOSITUM JUS TASQUE ANIMI" which has various translations referring to justice, uprightness and nobility of the soul (one version states "A mind which respects alike the laws of mutual justice and of god"). It is a true seal ring, with the crest in reverse so it will appear correct on the actual seal. It is shown reversed in one of our images so you can read it. This classic gentleman's pinky ring is stamped STERLING. It has signs of an earlier resizing which likely caused the sterling mark to be barely visible in the last two letters and no maker's mark is presentand it weighs 11.8 grams. A 14k white gold man's diamond with black onyx bullseye ring by Birks from the late 1930s 1950. This vintage size 7 men's ring by Birks Canada has a central 21 point genuine diamond which has a round black onyx stone bezel set around the centre stone. It is stamped BIRKS and 14 K and another mark. The whole ring is white gold, and was custom made at Birks. The ring comes with an independent gemologist's appraisal for $2000CAN. The diamond measures 21 points (measured in setting) and is SI-1 clarity and I-J colour. There are two quite minutes chips at the bezel, visible only with a loupe, and this was mentioned in the appraisal of $2000 CAD. A Paladin Have Gun Will Travel gun belt with 2 guns. A must for the true television cowboy fan! This is a scarce 30" black leather gun belt with two holsters from the television series Have Gun Will Travel (from the late 1950s-early 1960s). It has the Paladin Knight chessman logo, applied plastic bullet holders with 4 out the six original red bullets, and the original silverplated buckle. Also included are the two original decorated metal cap guns with embossed plastic black handles with flip-up LOAD HERE compartments for rolls of caps. This scarce set is nearly complete, and it is in very good condition with the following condition notes: two bullets missing, cracking/flaking to the HAVE GUN... white paint, minor surface cracking/creasing to the leather and some minor surface corrosion to the rivets. An evocative, vintage Japanese woodblock print by Eiichi Kotozuka (1906-1979), entitled "Night Rain in Rakuhoku (Kyoto)". It is the large Oban size of 40 cm x 27 cm. (or 15-3/4" x 10-3/4") - visible size in frame. It has the Uchida publisher's mark on the lower right, it is in a 23" x 18-1/2" black finished wood frame, carved in the style of bamboo wood (it possibly may be bamboo or could be another wood, the wood is entirely painted). The scene is stark and striking. It is done in blacks, greys and barely tinted dark blue with yellow highlights; the rain is in thin streaks with silvery flashes. Probably dating to the 1940s or 1950s, it has a Joske's of Texas gallery label on the back, and it is in excellent condition with no visible fading, soiling, foxing, rips or tears, losses, damage or repairs. A superbly rendered and vividly coloured lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Kasui (1883-1957), entitled "Meguro-Fudo-Do" (Fudo Temple in Meguro). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This item has strong colours and the print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. There is some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain), and some minor yellowing to the paper from age, not affecting the image. An Eiichi Kotozuka Evening Snow At Kiyamachi 1950s framed woodblock Japanese print. This large Oban size print is by Kotozuka (1906-1979) and it has a sight size of 15-1/4 x 10-1/4". It has been matted and framed with a black painted bamboo style 23 x 18-1/4" frame with the print affixed to the mat. The print itself may be 1/4" larger on all sides due to the mat. It has one of the artistic "Koto" seal signatures below the print title as well as the Uchida publisher seal on the upper left of the print. Kiyamachi Street is located in Kyoto, Japan and it is a world heritage site of considerable beauty. It has a Joske's of Texas foil label on back (the department store that sold and framed this print) and the paper has been subtly embossed giving a nice three dimensional effect. Although this print was glazed when we obtained it we will be shipping it without the glass in order to protect the print from damage if the glass were to break in shipment. It is in excellent condition with no staining, tears, fading, damage or repairs.
