An Eiichi Kotozuka Evening Snow At Kiyamachi 1950s framed woodblock Japanese print. This large Oban size print is by Kotozuka (1906-1979) and it has a sight size of 15-1/4 x 10-1/4". It has been matted and framed with a black painted bamboo style 23 x 18-1/4" frame with the print affixed to the mat. The print itself may be 1/4" larger on all sides due to the mat. It has one of the artistic "Koto" seal signatures below the print title as well as the Uchida publisher seal on the upper left of the print. Kiyamachi Street is located in Kyoto, Japan and it is a world heritage site of considerable beauty. It has a Joske's of Texas foil label on back (the department store that sold and framed this print) and the paper has been subtly embossed giving a nice three dimensional effect. Although this print was glazed when we obtained it we will be shipping it without the glass in order to protect the print from damage if the glass were to break in shipment. A superbly rendered and vividly coloured lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Kasui (1883-1957), entitled "Meguro-Fudo-Do" (Fudo Temple in Meguro). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This item has strong colours and the print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. There is some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain), and some minor yellowing to the paper from age, not affecting the image. A Robert Allison Scottish sterling silver and genuine citrine round pin or brooch with a Greek key design. This vintage 1-1/2" round brooch is fully hallmarked for Edinburgh probably 1958 (we think - the date stamp is difficult to make out). This pin has a safety clasp and the citrene has been checked to verify that it is a genuine gem stone and it weighs 15.0 grams. These stones are sometimes referred to as smoky topaz, but they are actually a light brown citrine. It would make a handsome addition to your Scottish sash and kilt ensemble for a Scottish wedding or family event. An evocative, vintage Japanese woodblock print by Eiichi Kotozuka (1906-1979), entitled "Night Rain in Rakuhoku (Kyoto)". It is the large Oban size of 40 cm x 27 cm. (or 15-3/4" x 10-3/4") - visible size in frame. It has the Uchida publisher's mark on the lower right, it is in a 23" x 18-1/2" black finished wood frame, carved in the style of bamboo wood (it possibly may be bamboo or could be another wood, the wood is entirely painted). The scene is stark and striking. It is done in blacks, greys and barely tinted dark blue with yellow highlights; the rain is in thin streaks with silvery flashes. Probably dating to the 1940s or 1950s, it has a Joske's of Texas gallery label on the back, and it is in excellent condition with no visible fading, soiling, foxing, rips or tears, losses, damage or repairs. This vintage 3/4" wide bracelet measures 2-1/4" x 2" across the interior; it has bezel-set natural turquoise gem stones interspersed with stamped silver planchettes mounted on twisted rope frame. A superbly rendered and atmospheric lifetime woodblock print by the famed Japanese artist Kawase Hasui (1883-1957), titled "Ikegami Honmonji Temple" (Honmonji Temple in Snow). First published in 1931, this is an artist's lifetime strike from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. This print is Oban size (14-1/4" x 9-1/2" image size, 19-3/4" x 14-1/4" frame size). It has the 6 mm. red lifetime seal of the publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (seal used from 1946-57). It comes in a red-painted bamboo-style frame from that time period, with framing notations on the backing cardboard as well as the original Eaton's frame department sticker. This print is in excellent condition with no losses, tears, foxing, fading, damage or repairs. The frame has some flaking of the red paint on the frame (the shiny paint is about 50% gone however the red stain and black painted highlights remain). There is some minor browning to the paper not affecting the image. Please note we have a similar print from the same period also available. A 10k green jadite or jade filigree cocktail ring from the 1950s. This vintage 5-1/4 or 5.25 size ring weighs 4.2 grams. The fine claw-set stone is a navette or marquise cabochon gem stone shape and it measures 1-1/8" from the tip of the setting to the other tip. The setting itself is 5/8" wide and the setting and shoulders are nicely decorated. It is stamped 10 K however the maker's name and mark have been obscured by what is likely a resizing in the past. A 10k opal and rubies oval circlet ring from the 1950s - 1960. This vintage size 7 yellow gold ring features a wonderfully colorful and flashy 70 point genuine opal (calculated by gauge) which has orange, green and blue fire (only hinted at in our pictures). It is surrounded by 14 genuine round cut rubies and the setting measures 1/2" x 3/8" across. This is a classic gem design that has endured through centuries, and the rubies and oval opal enhance each other. Please note that the rubies are a slightly darker red colour than they appear in the photo (on our viewer, anyway). This ring weighs 2.5 grams, it has an obscured maker's stamp and tests as 10K or slightly higher. There is no 10 K mark, possibly the ring was sized and that mark was lost. Opal is the birthstone for October and July is ruby. One of the claws for the opal is a repair, and the opal sits about 1/32" out of alignment due to this. It is in otherwise excellent condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. Ring tested for gold content and gems confirmed on a gem tester and viewed under magnification.
