An attractive Victorian period 15K yellow gold genuine rubies and pearls ring circa 1880s. This dainty antique size 4-1/2 or size 4.5 ring features fine sculpting and a beaded edge, two 5 point by gauge genuine rubies and three genuine half pearls gem stones. This lovely antique ring has a B&H maker's mark and the remnants of quite worn English hallmarks and it tests as 15 K. It has a brilliant intense yellow gold Roman or matte finish, which was popular at the time, as it gave the ring the appearance of 22K gold. The rubies appear a little washed out in the pictures, they are a deeper red in real life. A sterling silver nutmeg grater circa 1890s. It may actually be older. This American antique 1-3/4" x 1-3/8" egg shaped sterling grater has the original interior gilt rasp and interior gilding. Nutmeg was an expensive imported spice when first introduced to Europe and to North America, and it became enormously popular as a condiment. A sterling silver nutmeg grater was a sign of prosperity, as well as indicating a great fondness for the spice, of which aficionados would grate to their own taste when sitting down to eat. Not easy to find them anymore. This antique example features fine ornate leaf hand engraving and a dedication saying Z.S.J. to M.M.J. 25th. Dec 1893. A fine Christmas gift indeed. It is stamped STERLING along the gilt inner rim, the gilding on the interior and rasp is a rich gold in colour and intact. A pair of Qing dynasty Chinese cloisonne enamel lobed plant pots or jardinieres. These late 18th/early 19th century shrub pots are similar but not identical. The 7-1/2" x 5-3/4" bowls feature blue grounds and well-executed multi-colour cloisonne designs. They are both footed and each has water drain holes in the bottoms. Each bowl has some damage, with incomplete or chipped enamel under the rims, enamel misses and chips and a large loss to the upper rim enamel on one pot. An antique 12k gold genuine rhodolite garnets and mine cut diamonds ring circa 1890 1900. This antique size 7-1/2 or 7.5 ring has four genuine true red colour garnets surrounded by twenty genuine mine cut diamonds in a classic marquise shape. This Victorian period piece is unmarked, but has been tested and is confirmed to be 12 K gold. It measures just over 7/8" long and is 5/16" across the elegant marquise shaped setting and it weighs 3.0 grams. Rhodolite garnets most resembled rubies in colour, so were a desirable gem stone even in the 19thC. It is in excellent antique condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. A Victorian sterling silver ornate link silver coins watch chain necklace from 1895. This exceptional, highly styled chain shows Victorian design at its best. It is 16-3/4" long and it consists of a swivel, coiled infinity knot style links, oblong rod links with interior silver coils along with a swivel, t-bar, silver coins and a gold-fronted sterling scroll style 1-1/8 x 3/4" watch fob. The coins include a Canada 1881 five cent silver piece, a British 1854 three pence coin ("thruppence"), a U.S. 1890 dime (10 cent silver) and a British 1887 silver florin. Each component has a British silver stamp (lion) and the fob has a full set of hallmarks and a registry number (for 1895) as well as the maker's mark for Charles Edward Soloman. A Vict. gp & mop fancy spring extendable watch chain. This truly unusual 12" spring-loaded expanding Victorian gold plated over brass watch chain has with mother of pearl sections. This 1/2" wide chain features engraved round links with pierced loops, round thick plain loops and designed flattened patterned loops; it also has two spring-loaded segments with mother-of-pearl inserted sections. Each spring segment has engraving and finely made pivots and channels for the expansion spring; one has what appears to be either an old repair or for some other purpose, possibly a hanging component. It has one original swivel and one that has been added later; it has no identifying marks of any kind. We haven't seen a chain of this style before, and we've seen hundreds. An excellent curiosity. This Victorian gentleman's size 8-1/2 or size 8.5 ring features a 5/8" x 1/2" upper section fashioned from an actual Victorian hinged photo locket which has been soldered shut and engraved with an ornate Gothic GWS monogram. It has Birmingham, England hallmarks for 1864 (no Queen's head). This ring bears an inscription on the interior under the top section of WITH FONDEST LOVE LIZZIE. It weighs 6.7 grams. An antique Art Nouveau period Scottish sterling silver two piece belt buckle, depicting the Green Man, a well known creature from ancient United Kingdom mythology. He is associated with birth and re-birth, and the coming of spring. Wide silver buckles of this size - 4-3/4" x 2-3/8" - in solid silver, silver plate or gold were often presented to a young graduate nurses by their families or by consultants at the hospital they were then working as graduate nurses, as their badge was the wide black belt of their nursing uniform. One of my nurse friends who trained in the UK says this practice was still usual into the 1950s. This buckle is fully hallmarked for Glasgow, Scotland 1897-8 and it has the maker's mark for (possibly) James Forest. A rare late Victorian Page or Plato clock, fully hallmarked for London, England 1901. This mechanical marvel features celluloid leaves with handpainted numerals, the top dial for hours and the bottom for minutes. The mechanism flips each page over to tell the time, and it has a round case in sterling silver. Seen occasionally in brass and in lesser metals, silver is very rare and would have been extremely expensive in its day. It has bun feet, a handle and a cylinder of very thin glass for a window. It has retainers to keep the pages open and the winder and adjustment are on the bottom. A Pforzheim Germany plique-a-jour enamel Arts and Crafts necklace from the 1910 era. This stunning survivor from the Edwardian era was made in the Pforsheim area of Germany which was the center of such items. Plique-a-jour (French: "Light of Day") refers to the labour-intensive technique of repeatedly firing enamel in metal-bordered cells resembling cloisonne, resulting in unbacked transluscent panels. This fine example measures 1-7/8 x 15/16", it has a baroque pearl drop and a pink tourmaline in silver (800 grade or better) with pale lavender purple enamel panels. The best exponent of this work was the firm of Levinger & Bissinger who were prime exponents of the Jugendstil movement. Included is a contemporary associated arts and crafts 25-3/8" chain (stamped STERLING on the hook and eye clasp) from which is suspended the pendant on a 4-1/8" drop with a hook suspension. The pendant has an impossible to read mark which appears to be a diamond cartouche containing a B and a possible animal head - a silver mark but as yet unidentified. This piece looks like the work of Levinger & Bissinger but we are unable to definitively confirm it's one of their pieces. This rarity weighs 7.1 grams and it is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs; a couple of enamel panels show natural striations form their manufacturing process. Each piece has a sterling silver patterned ferrule with silver plated blades and colourful genuine mother-of-pearl handles. The purple satin and velvet interior of the box has fitted compartments with locking brass fittings. It has EB EPNS on the blades, and the paper-wrapped fold-open box is in fine condition with only a few rubs to the edges and a scrape on the top. William Comyns English Arts & Crafts sterling nurse's belt buckle, fully hallmarked for London, England 1901-2. This stunning 2 piece buckle weighs 79.6 grams, it measures 4-3/4" x 2-3/4" in total, it has the stylized A&C flower bud in the central sections, and the curvilinear border with beaded pierced gallery gives this piece excellent motion. While William Comyns was a productive producer of silver small wares, his Arts & Crafts period work is not common, and as in this case, it was well made and of excellent quality. It has the Comyns hallmarks on the front and an engraved Rd No 362586 for 1900 on the back. A Scottish Dirk pebble and crystal knife pin or brooch from the 1900 era. This late Victorian/early Edwardian pin had fine hand engraving and tooling, the amber stone is of molded glass and the two stones are of red jasper and (probably) black onyx. It measures 2-7/8" long and 3/4" at its widest, it has the original c-clasp and it is stamped SILVER. This Scottish clan classic style brooch is still being produced today and this example is an antique one. This is a stunning c1900 mahogany and brass 1/2 and 1/4 glass plate camera which includes the original tripod, extra plates, plate holders, photographer's guide and other items. Thornton-Pickard was a renowned maker and distributor of fine cameras and this early model, probably a Ruby, is certainly one of the nicest, and in superb original condition as well. It includes the brass mounted mahogany body (serial number 6337) fitted with the brass bottom wheel for mounting of the original three-leg adjustable brass-mounted tripod. It retains the original leather carrying handle (this camera collapses for easy transport). It retains the original black leather bellows which remain in excellent shape (shown slack in one of the pictures - it extends fully and cleanly as expected) and all screws and mounts are intact and fully functional. Included is a 1911 Wellcome Photographic Exposure Record from the London, Ontario, Canada owner which has a later notation describing the lens as an F.H. Dowblet with a T-P shutter; this booklet also has an exposure calculation wheel as well as shutter, picture and other information. Also included are three mahogany and metal slide McKenzie Wishart film and plate holders allowing 6 further plates to be exposed (numbered with ivory discs from 1-6). The lens assembly has the original wrapped pull cord and the ivory discs showing the speed settings and another with the T-P identification information (TIME & INST. PATENT THORNTON-PICKARD). Also included in this suite is a cardstock case with five unexposed glass 1/4 plates (2 broken, 3 intact), three black patinated metal double sided (#1-6) 1/4 plate carriers in the original cloth wrapped carry case, an extra loose metal mounted plate from one of the carriers, some old newspaper scraps that wrapped some of the plates, four exposed 1/2 plates (uniformed guard, couple in front of house in London, Ontario, three landscapes with a newspaper clipping showing the bridge over a river which is one of the views on the plates) plus a 1/4 plate showing a school soccer player. We have reversed the image with our photo software so you can see the couple (available in our email picture files). Conditon on this intact and rare package is exemplary - some minor corner bashes to the wood of the lens housing and some very minor signs of gentle use and some fraying and loss to the shutter cord and minor wear to the carrying handle, but overall it is astounding this setup has remained intact and in such archive-worthy condition. A late Victorian original gilt cast metal standup 11" desk or table thermometer complete with a cherub and fancy swing-out foot. It has a loop for hanging on a wall and the original mercury thermometer is intact and working fine.
