This pocket stamp carrier is similar to a match safe in appearance, but smaller and without the striker edge. It has two circular cutouts on the upper edge for grasping the stamps. In the Victorian era, letter writing was a more popular pastime, so these boxes were a necessity to a well appointed desk. But not every writer had one, they are uncommon and are quite collectible today. A 19thC framed watercolour picture of a child 1860-80. This late Victorian period unsigned framed water color on paper is a piece of early memorial folk art and it was possibly made by a family member as a reminder of a deceased child, with typical muted colours and austere pose. This Victorian picture is a lovingly made piece, most likely a memorial painting, with a hand-cut deep red velvet mat, a gilt paper mount from a photo-album page and a black and gilt frame with applied brass Coptic crosses in each corner. The image alone measures 5-1/2" x 4" (sight size), the frame is 14" x 12", and it has a unique back closure - a cut wood ruler screwed to the frame with brass screws (later addition, and removable). It retains its original black backing paper and glass, and this unsigned piece of Victorian folk art is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, losses, damage or repairs except for some minor finish chipping at the frames ends. An early magenta transfer cup and saucer from the 1830s-1850s. This nice early example of transferware is a 2-3/8" high footed cup and matching 6" saucer with a fine magenta (purple/red) colour floral transfer with handpainted highlights. It has a painted 2/441 pattern mark and a formed fluted column design. The saucer is deep for drinking from (an 18th and 19th century custom) and it is typical for the era. A splendid 17-1/2" carved and lathe turned bakelite necklace c1920s-30s. This necklace consists of turned and hand-carved bakelite beads in oval, round and barrel forms; the colours include off-white, swirled tan, 2 colour pale green and brown. Most beads have variable colour layers and stripes, and the between triple disc striped spacers are all one piece. A fine hand painted and gold trimmed Dresden factory painted porcelain lidded jam or marmalade pot by Donath & Co. c1900. This 5-1/2" tall serving piece features different floral scenes on each panel between the footed columns and on the lid; it is marked with DRESDEN with the crown mark for Donath & Co. (1893-1916), and it has a gold rose painted over the Thomas maker's name. It also has the retailer's stamp for Ryrie Bros. Ltd. of Toronto (who were bought out by Birks in the 1920s). A German porcelain chicken figural schnapps or liquor decanter with glasses or cups and tray from the 1920s. This set is in orange, green and yellow luster and the cork-lined stopper shaped like feathers lifts off to reveal a filling hole. It is fully hand painted, the chicken is 8-1/2" long, the two-handled tray is 9-5/8" long and the schnapps shot glasses stand 1-5/8" high and fit on indented circles on the tray. Strangely the front of the belt hook and eye buckle section on this elegant fashion accessory features a small fleur-de-lys. A Royal Doulton blue and gold H4115 coffee pot from the 1950s. This high quality, elegant 7-7/8" tall serving piece features ornate gilding with patterned bands with a diaper decoration and foliage as well as a band of royal blue in a spongeware style on the lid and upper shoulder. It also has lush gold trim and it has the Royal Doulton mark as well as B1371 and H4115 pattern numbers. The lid has an oval shaped insert which locks when turned 90 degrees and this fine table accessory is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, wear, losses, damage or repairs. A sterling silver cut glass & celluloid smelling salts bottle dated 1922. This fine quality 2-3/8" high bottle features a celluloid insert in the sterling silver top and a panelled cut glass base. The bottle retains the original brown cotton batten and the hand cut fitted glass stopper. The silver is stamped with a full set of hallmarks for Birmingham, England 1916 and it has the maker's mark for Percy James Finch of Birmingham (est. 1916). The top has the engraved dedication "TO 'GRANDMA' FROM ERIC 1923" and this personal grooming or hygiene item is in very good condition with no cracks, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than one small shoulder chip and bottom rim chips to the glass, a later scratched property identification number and a small dent below the 1 in 1923 on the silver. A Coro orange lucite cabochons and aurora borealis rhinestones bracelet from the 1950s. This stylish and well made 7-1/4 x 1-1/8" gold plated bracelet features amber or light orange plastic or lucite large cabochons mounted on links with cinnamon and amber rhinestones. The large aurora borealis stones in orange add mulitcolour flash. It has a safety chain with a springring clasp, it has a snapover clasp and all stones are claw-set. The orange cabs alternate from clear to opaque and it is signed CORO. This superb, flashy and vibrantly coloured set includes the layered 2-3/8 x 1-7/8" brooch which has a safety clasp and the matching 1-1/8 x 7/8" clip-on earrings. Each piece has a black patinated structure and the pin's layers are loosely and independently attached so the top layer moves freely.
