A superb post-Edwardian sterling silver and enamel sports award fob or pendant dated 1915. This 1-1/2 x 1-1/4" running or track award features fine cobalt enamel and a central gold washed or gilded medallion depicting a runner. It is dedicated on the back with the legend ST. M.C.I. ANNUAL SPORTS 1915 GIRLS J.C. FIRST and it is stamped STERLING with the Ryrie Bros. manufacture silver mark (later Birks). It is possibly from the St. Marys Collegiate Institute of St. Marys, Ontario and it weighs 10.7 grams. Most sport award fobs were made with male figures, so it is not unusual on an award fob prize for a girl's event at this time to show a boy rather than a girl. This trophy fob is in excellent original condition with no dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than a bit of rubbing to the gold wash. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
