A Canadian World War I folk art wood carving of a dove of peace. This exceptional and original folk art item depicts a hand and a dove and it came from a Zurich, Ontario folk art carver. It stands 7" tall and is has varying inscriptions including: OCT 1916 (sleeve), ARMISTIC. NOV. 11TH 1918 (sic, base, bird side), PEACE and WAR DECLARED AUG 4TH 1914 (on planchet in bird's mouth) and OCT 1916 (base, hand side). It has a wonderful old varnished patina and this exceptional commemorative is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
