A Kearsley Tojuque Seba snake copper plate print 1801. This fine example is of the hand colored copper plate engraved print, plate 114, titled "MOURNING SNAKE, var. Tojuque Seba.", from the original by James Heath. Published in 1801 for inclusion in "Kearsley's Systematic Natural History" series published in various volumes and with various topics beginning in 1800, this plate is from Volume 3 "Amphibia", published in 1802. Notations on the print include: MOURNING SNAKE, VAR. TOJUQUA SEBA., 1801 JANy 1 LONDON PUBLISHED BY G. KEARSLEY FLEET STREET., HEATH SCULP., 114. It has been mounted in a 14" x 11-1/2" mat which has been wrapped in plastic with a printshop's label. The viewable image measures 8" x 5". This image is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, bends, foxing, soiling, fading, losses, damage or repairs. We have two more similar prints from this series - please see our other listings. Condition issues are noted; Prints are are antique and may have signs of use. Expedited parcel to the U.S. starts at $18.50 (other spots may vary) - tracking and insurance are included in quotes.
