A 14k Birks white gold ruby and diamonds sunburst flower style ring circa 1940s. This size 5-1/2 or 5.5 ring features a round 1/2 carat (50 point) ruby (medium dark, purplish-red, moderately included, slightly chipped) surrounded by twelve brilliant cut diamonds (26 points total, VS, F-G-H colour) in a flower setting. The leaves have a fine beaded edge. This ring measures 9/16" across the setting, it weighs 3.1 grams and it is stamped BIRKS and 14 K. It has a conservative independent gemological appraisal for $1700 (Canadian). It is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs other than those listed. Please note that the picture may appear flatter and darker than the ring appears in real life - we find reds very difficult to photograph to look like the real life colour. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have signs of gentle use.
