A 800 solid hand engraved Italian lidded canister or box circa 1930-35. This lovely silver item is gilded on the interior and it has a lobed design with ornate floral engraving. It could possibly have been for cigarettes, although similar items were also prodiced to hold sugar or tea. It is stamped 800 MILANO and A RONCHI on the bottom. The jewellery firm August Ronchi opened in Milan, Italy in 1929 - this firm sells mostly high end jewellery and watches, but has also produced lovely quality silver items in the past. It weighs an impressive 201.2 grams, and it is in excellent vintage condition with no monograms, dents, bends, corrosion, losses, damage or repairs. All items are thoroughly and conservatively graded and all condition issues are noted; all items are vintage or antique and may have slight signs of gentle use.
