A Kearsley Tojuque Seba snake copper plate print 1801. This fine example is of the hand colored copper plate engraved print, plate 114, titled "MOURNING SNAKE, var. Tojuque Seba.", from the original by James Heath. Published in 1801 for inclusion in "Kearsley's Systematic Natural History" series published in various volumes and with various topics beginning in 1800, this plate is from Volume 3 "Amphibia", published in 1802. Notations on the print include: MOURNING SNAKE, VAR. TOJUQUA SEBA., 1801 JANy 1 LONDON PUBLISHED BY G. KEARSLEY FLEET STREET., HEATH SCULP., 114. It has been mounted in a 14" x 11-1/2" mat which has been wrapped in plastic with a printshop's label. The viewable image measures 8" x 5".
