This ring features a claw-set oval faceted 12 carat (calculated) synthetic alexandrite with lush purple and intense blue colour. These simulated alexandrites are usually corundum laced with vanadium to produce the color change under different types of lighting, or a treated colourless chrysoberyl. This created gemstone has been around for almost 100 years, and the stones usually test as corundums or sapphires on a gem tester (natural genuine alexandrites of this colour are expensive and uncommon, and most of what you will see for sale is the paler or simulated version). A pair of Lucknow solid silver sweetmeat or bonbon bowls from the Indian Raj period circa 1880 1890. These superbly detailed antique high grade silver 4-7/8" x 4" bowls have a graceful fluted rim. They feature gilt interiors and fine hammered wildlife scenes around the exterior depicting panthers, elephants, birds, dogs, rabbits and others, all with a backdrop of palm trees and tropical foliage. The design is a classic Lucknow silver design of this period, and interior gilding was seen more commonly then also. They have a large hand-tooled peacock figure on the bottom of each bowl, (which is most likely the silversmith's mark), and they test as very high grade silver.
